We'll be hosting our second competition of the year with the CAFA/AIDA Sanctioned Western Regional Competition, June 5 to 6.

Saturday June 5 - Constant Ballast with or without Fins - On a boat in Howe Sound
Sunday June 6 - Static Apnea - 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the UBC Aquatic Centre
Sunday June 6 - Dynampic Apnea with or without Fins - 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Cold Turkey Competition

The Vancouver Apneist Club and CAFA have their first competition of the year with the Cold Turkey Competition, January 30 to 31 at the UBC Aquatic Centre.

Saturday, January 30:

4:00pm: Briefing
5:00pm to 7:00pm: Dynamic Apnea with Fins in the 50m (covered, heated) outdoor pool

Sunday, January 31:

10:00am: Briefing
10:30am to 12:30pm: Static Apnea in the 25m indoor pool
12:30pm to 2:30pm: Dynamic Apnea without Fins in the 25m indoor pool

Triple Depth Series - Free Immersion

The Vancouver Apneist Club is holding a series of competitions this spring and summer for the three depth disciplines. It's called the Triple Depth Series and is aimed towards new freedivers who are either thinking of becoming competitors or are just curious about what depth they can reach. The depth is limited to 30 metres maximum so that we can keep the logistics simple and the registration cost down to $25.

Spring Fling Competiton

The Vancouver Apneist Freediving club is pleased to announce the "Spring Fling Competition", May 1 to 3 at the UBC Aquatic Centre. This pool only competition will have the following events:

Static Apnea
Dynamic Apnea with Fins (in the 50m outdoor pool)
Dynamic Apnea wiout Fins (in the 25m indoor pool)

The Vancouver Apneists will be hosting the Fall Western Regional Competition, November 22 at the UBC Aquatic Centre.

Briefing:
12:00 noon on the deck of the indoor pool

Static:
12:30 - 1:45 in the indoor pool

Dynamic with or without fins:
2:00 - 4:00 pm in the indoor pool (25 m)

Other fun events are yet to be determined

Vancouver Apneist club members Mandy-Rae Cruickshank, Jill Yoneda, Greg Fee, Andrew Hogan and Kevin Sorensen will be competing at the AIDA World Team Freediving Championships, August 30 to September 12 in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. 2008 National Freediving Championships

The Vancouver Apneists held the 2008 Canadian Freediving Championships, May 30 to June 1. The pool events were held at the UBC Aquatic Centre and the Constant Ballast event was held just off of Lions Bay. This was a well attended event with a grand total of 12 competitors.
